How the calculator works

It works backwards from the customers you want. Leads needed = customers ÷ lead-to-customer rate. Clicks needed = leads ÷ click-to-lead rate. Budget = clicks × cost per click. Cost per customer = budget ÷ customers.

The most important input is the lead-to-customer rate, and it only comes from your CRM. LinkedIn can tell you cost per click and cost per lead, but not how many of those leads became customers.

Why LinkedIn needs this more than most

LinkedIn clicks usually cost more than search or social clicks elsewhere, and B2B deals close months after the click. Judged on cost per lead, LinkedIn often looks expensive; judged on cost per customer, it can be the cheapest channel in the account.

The full breakdown is in what LinkedIn Ads cost B2B companies, and how we run it is on our LinkedIn Ads agency page.
